The heart and soul of a church is its mission in the world. Our primary task is responding to God's call to take the Good News of God's grace back into the world outside the doors of the church.

we are presbyterian

We believe that the head of the church is Jesus, that the church is the body of Christ, and that God speaks through God’s people. Therefore our tradition has a leadership structure that is representative of the body that it leads and is reflective of our theology.

This means the leaders of Forest Hill are our Elders - people of all genders reflective of the diversity of the congregation who exhibit wisdom, are mature, have demonstrated skills in leadership, and are compassionate in spirit. Their job is to serve as the spiritual leaders of this particular body with energy, intelligence, imagination, and love. They are called to be responsible for the life of the congregation. Our Elders are members of the congregation who are elected by the congregation and ordained to serve in this ordered ministry for a term of three years.

Our Elders along with the Pastor serve as the Session - the leadership body of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church.

We are Forest Hills

Our Session leads us in the variety of ministries we do here at Forest Hills.

core ministries

Doing what we are called to do.

Christian Formation and Youth - directs the Church’s programs of Christian Formation as defined by the overall Session. They provide opportunities to nurture spiritual growth through Bible Study, as well as educational, seasonal, and musical events. Learn more about out ongoing and upcoming formation opportunities here.

Fellowship - provides opportunities for members of the Church to strengthen bonds of friendship, understanding and appreciation of others within the church family. Members of our congregation come from such diverse backgrounds, work in various fields, and have children enrolled in different schools they need a chance to get to know one another on a more personal basis. Fellowship seeks creative and imaginative ways for members to be drawn together socially to spiritually strengthen the bonds of friendship and Christian love in our church community. Learn more about ongoing and upcoming fellowship opportunities here.

Mission - extends the ministry of Forest Hills to people outside the church who are in need. This committee leads our church in following the example of our Lord in service to others through action and ministry. The purpose of Missions is two-fold: 1) Cooperate with the work of other service agencies in relieving human suffering. 2) Plan service projects that involve members of Forest Hills in giving their time, talents, and financial resources to meet the spiritual, mental, and physical needs of our greeter community. Learn more about how we serve our neighbors here.

Worship - works with the pastor and staff to create engaging and dynamic worship experiences for the congregation to deepen our faith and lift up our praises to God. This is important work for us as Presbyterians, as our tradition believes that two of the marks of the Christian church are: the Word of God rightly preached and the Sacraments rightly administered. Worship enables us all to make a joyful noise unto our Creator at every opportunity, helping us deepen our relationship and show our gratitude to the God who redeems and sustains us.
