Join us for Maundy Thursday Dinner Church Service - at 7pm in the Fellowship Hall
Dinner Church is a new take on a very old way of doing worship, based on the Agape Meals of the earliest church. We'll share in the broken bread and shared cup, and we'll eat and talk about Jesus' story, just as the first disciples did when they ate the Passover meal with Jesus on the night of his arrest. The inspiration for this service is taken from the service developed by Grace Commons, a former Missional Faith Community of Chicago Presbytery, written by Rev. Nanette Sawyer and Rob Clearfield, which in turn is based on the Dinner Church practice developed by St. Lydia’s in Brooklyn. Dinner Church is not a Passover Seder, as that practice was developed by our Jewish siblings well after the split between the communities that would become Judaism and Christianity and thus would be improper for us to appropriate.
